Tip Saver
submitted by Mike Klambara
We've all done it at one time or another. Most likely after dark, or when we're using a longer leader than we're used to.
We don't stop our retrieve before the barrel swivel makes it's way into our rod tip and maybe even a running guide or two.
Repeatedly passing a steel swivel, even gently, through our guides is not the ideal way to care for them.
Fortunately, there is an inexpensive solution to the problem. Small plastic beads sold at any craft store can be threaded onto your line before you tie the barrel swivel on.
Even if you reel to much line in, the plastic bead will pull up tight to the tip of the rod before the barrel swivel can make contact. Just make sure you select the smallest bead that will not pass through your tip.
