The plug pickThe Plug Pick

This is one of the most simple tricks you can use but it is also one of my favorites
What started out as a coat hanger, turned into a stainless piece of lure thru-wire, and then eventually, wound up with a handle.

All the changes were useful and served a good purpose. Going from a coat hanger to a piece of stainless meant no more rust stains on the plugs, especially the bucktailed hooks. The wooden handle meant no more flesh wounds as I looked for the pick by feel in the dark. The wooden handle makes it easy to find by feel and keeps the sharp edge of the wire away from my hands.

Why use one of these? Ever since purchasing an Aqua-Skinz Tall Small bag to hold my 2.5 oz needlefish, I noticed that most other plugs were hard to get out of the bag. I was using my fingers as needle nose pliers to try and pinch them out. The plug pick make it easy to reach even the shortest of plugs in any bag.

Top view of bagWhen we look from the top, the rest of the plugs are seen hiding in the bottom of the dividers.

I don't like to hang the plugs by the hooks from the top of the dividers. I find they catch on the material and also my waders!

Note the Blast needle in the left compartment. Good luck trying to get that with you fingers!
